# Bring in a Claude Code agent, and why it starts with no tools

There is no "create a new agent" button in this build. The only way to add one is to import a .claude/agents definition, and every import lands holding no tools until you grant some.

## Steps

1. Write the agent as a .claude/agents/*.md file, the same format Claude Code itself uses, in the folder that sits beside your configured skills directory.
2. Open Settings, then AI & extensions, and find Agents from Claude Code.
3. Discovered files are listed with their name, model and the tools the file itself requests. Press Import on the one you want.
4. The imported agent appears below holding no tools at all, whatever the file asked for. Tick the ones you actually want to grant, then press that agent’s own Save.

## How to tell it worked

The agent appears in the tool-grants list with the count of tools you gave it, and that count is greater than zero.

## If it does not work

**You are looking for a way to create a brand new agent from inside NeuralVault.**

There is not one in this build. Every custom agent starts as a file, written the way Claude Code writes one, then imported here.

**An imported agent never does anything.**

It holds no tools until you grant them, even if the file itself requested some, and even if the file requested none at all, which in Claude Code means everything. An agent with no tools can reason but cannot act.

**You cannot find Agents from Claude Code in Settings.**

It needs Personal or above. On Free the whole screen is unavailable.
