# Export your vault or part of it

In NeuralVault 2.0, Settings, Workspace, Vault has an "Export vault" button that copies the whole vault, or one folder of it, to a folder you choose.

## Steps

1. Open Settings, then Workspace, then Vault and scroll to the export section.
2. To export only part of the vault, type a folder path into "Sub-vault folder, optional", such as wiki/projects. Leave it blank to export the whole vault.
3. Press "Export vault" (the button reads "Export sub-vault" if you typed a folder) and choose the destination folder.
4. Watch the progress line, "N files copied so far". Press "Cancel" next to it to stop.
5. When it finishes the screen says "Done." with the number of files copied, or "Cancelled." if you stopped it.

## How to tell it worked

The destination folder holds the copied files and the screen reports the same count.

## If it does not work

**The result says some files were skipped.**

The screen lists the categories it skips: hidden files, key or credential-named files, links, and files that could not be read. This is by design, so do not rely on an export to carry those.

**The export fails with a message.**

The message under the button is the reason the export gave. Check the destination has room and that you can write to it.
