# How editions work: Free, Personal and Business

There is one app. The edition comes from the account you sign in with, and the table below states what each edition is documented to include, including the parts that are not built yet.

## Steps

1. Understand the model. Free, Personal and Business are the same build. Which features are unlocked follows the account you sign in with. Nobody installs a licence or a key, and upgrading is not a reinstall.
2. Every install runs as Free until a signed-in account says otherwise. Free is not a trial and does not expire. Personal is not on sale yet and Business is not on sale yet.
3. Free includes: the Markdown vault, hybrid search and Chat with Cortex; local models through Ollama and the audit log; the vault browser; cloud providers on your own API key; and the model catalogue with capability scores and data-handling labels.
4. Personal and Business add rows that are partly built: NeuralVault model routing, the connector catalogue, the Dashboard and Activity pages, and the agent fleet. They also add the nv command-line tool and the plugin API. Business adds Canvas and Calendar, both read-only in this build.
5. Rows that a plan grants but the app does not implement yet: the approvals queue and self-rewrite review, session handoffs, syncing across your own devices, business metrics, the sync server, team access and Wire channels, and security review. Settings, Account, Plan and sign-in marks these "Not in this release".

## How to tell it worked

Settings, Account, Plan and sign-in names your edition, and its table matches the rows described here.

## If it does not work

**A feature you expected on your edition is missing from the app.**

Check whether its row is one of the "not built yet" rows above. If it is, no edition shows it. If it is not, open Plan and sign-in and check the edition.

**You want to know what a plan costs.**

This guide does not restate prices. The pricing page on the Perpetual Technologies website is the current source.

**Someone tells you to install a licence file.**

That is not how it works any more. Sign in with the account that holds the plan and press Renew now if the app has not caught up.

## Still stuck

Bug reports belong in the app, in Settings, About. Those carry no contact details, so they
get fixed rather than answered. To get a reply, email us instead: that route targets two
