# Outbound hosts: where tools are allowed to send requests

An allow-list of hosts. Anything not on it stops and asks you before a single request goes out, and it starts empty.

## Steps

1. Open Settings, then AI & extensions, then Outbound hosts.
2. On a new install nothing is allowed, so every outbound call will ask you first. That is the intended starting state rather than a misconfiguration.
3. Add a host by name, for example docs.rs, and press Enter.
4. Add only what you actually want reachable. Everything else keeps stopping for approval, which is the point of the list.

## How to tell it worked

The host appears in the list, and a tool call to it stops asking for approval.

## If it does not work

**You are still asked about a host you added.**

The entry has to match the host the tool actually calls. A subdomain is a different host, so allowing the parent does not cover it.

**You would rather not be asked at all.**

There is no off switch for the prompt in this build, and the empty list is what makes it safe by default. Add the hosts you use and the asking stops for those.
