# Select several chats and act on them together

In NeuralVault 2.0, Ctrl-click, Shift-click or a hover checkbox selects chats in the sidebar, and a bar offers Archive, Move to, Pin, Unpin and Delete.

## Steps

1. In the sidebar, Ctrl-click (Cmd-click on a Mac) a chat to add it to the selection, or tick the checkbox that appears when you hover a row.
2. Shift-click a second chat to select every chat from the last one you selected to that one, in the order shown on screen.
3. A bar appears saying how many are selected, with Archive, "Move to…", Pin, Unpin, Delete and Clear.
4. Choose an action. Delete asks "Delete N chats? This can’t be undone." and needs a second press.
5. Press Escape, or "Clear", to drop the selection. Escape is ignored while you are typing in a box or while a dialog or menu is open.

## How to tell it worked

The bar counts the chats you selected, and after the action the chats are where you sent them or gone.

## If it does not work

**A plain click opened the chat instead of selecting it.**

That is deliberate. A plain click always opens the chat. Only Ctrl or Cmd, Shift or the checkbox select.

**The bar says some chats could not be deleted.**

It names how many of the chats failed and which ones. Those chats are still there, so try them again.
