# Building a workflow: triggers, actions, and an approval that pauses a run

A drag-and-drop editor over a workflow note in your vault. Nothing runs until you switch it on, and an approval node pauses a run in place until you say yes.

## Steps

1. Open Agents, then Workflows, then create or open one.
2. Drag nodes from the palette: Triggers (Schedule, File Change, Board Moved, Manual), Actions (Run Agent, Tool Call, Write Note), Logic (Sequence, Branch, Wait, Approval).
3. Wire the nodes together and save. It is a direct editor over the underlying note in your vault, so there is nothing extra to publish.
4. Switch the workflow to Enabled. Run now is disabled with an explicit tooltip until you do, so nothing can fire by accident while you are still building it.

## How to tell it worked

Run now becomes clickable once the workflow is Enabled, and a run you trigger shows up on the workflow’s own run history.

## If it does not work

**Run now stays disabled.**

The workflow is not Enabled yet. Switch it on; the tooltip on the disabled button says exactly this.

**A run seems to have stopped partway through.**

Check for an Approval node. It pauses the run in an "awaiting approval" state with Approve and Deny right on the run chip, rather than failing or continuing without you.

**You cannot find Workflows at all.**

It needs Personal or above, the same as the rest of Agents.
