Model tiers: which model runs at which level
Three levels run at different times and cost different amounts. You can put a different model on each, or leave them on your default.

Steps
- Open Settings, then AI & extensions, then Model tiers.
- Cortex is the level that plans and reads every result. Agents work inside the brief it writes. Sub-agents do the narrowest jobs and run most often, so that level is where model choice moves the bill most.
- Leave a level on Use the default to keep it on whatever provider you have configured, and set one only where you actually want something different.
- Save. The change applies from your next turn, not to anything already running.
How to tell it worked
The card confirms it saved and says the change applies from the next turn.
If it does not work
- A model you expected is not in the list for a level.
- The list is built from the providers you have configured. Add the provider key first, under API keys, and the models appear here afterwards.
- The change did not seem to affect the answer you just got.
- It applies from the next turn. A turn already in flight finishes on the model it started with.
