You closed the window while editing: what is kept
In the Beta build, closing the window, switching page, restarting to update or shutting Windows down while a note has unsaved edits asks you first; the words you typed in the message box are kept for next time.

Steps
- Close the window with unsaved note edits. A box titled "Unsaved changes" says "A note here has edits that have not been saved." and "Closing the window now will discard them. This cannot be undone." Press "Keep editing" to go back and save. "Discard and close" throws the edits away.
- Switch to another page, or close the note’s own dialog, with unsaved edits. The app says: "There are unsaved changes here. Unlike Delete elsewhere in this app, there is no trash for text that was never saved: discarding it now cannot be undone." Press "Keep editing" to stay, or "Discard changes" to leave.
- Press "Restart to update" in Settings, About, with unsaved edits. It asks the same question first.
- Shut Windows down or sign out with unsaved edits. The app asks the same question.
- Know what is kept for the message box. The words you typed and have not sent are saved as you type and come back when you open the app again. Sending the message empties them. Attachments are not kept across a restart, only the words.
- Know what a crash does. If the window itself stops working, the box says "Anything in this window that you had not saved is lost." Your saved notes are not affected.
- If you keep NeuralVault running in the tray, closing the window hides it and your edit is still there when you open it again.
How to tell it worked
After reopening, the note shows the text you saved, and the message box shows the words you had typed.
If it does not work
- The unsent words are missing.
- Only the words are saved, and a very long draft is cut when it is written down for the next launch. Attachments are never kept.
- A chat you had sent is not in the list.
- Every turn is written to your vault as plain Markdown. See the guide on a chat that could not be read.
- A save failed rather than the window closing.
- See the guide on a note that will not save.
