Restore your vault from a backup
In NeuralVault 2.0, Settings, Workspace, Vault has "Restore from backup", which lists the automatic copies and lets you restore into a new folder or replace your vault after reviewing exactly what changes.

Steps
- Open Settings, then Workspace, then Vault and press "Restore from backup". NeuralVault saves a full copy of your vault about every six hours while it is open, keeping the newest ten, in a backups folder next to your vault folder.
- Choose the moment to go back to from the list. If the list is empty the screen says "No backups yet".
- Choose how to restore it. "Into a new folder next to my vault (recommended)" leaves your vault unchanged and deletes nothing. "Replace my current vault with this backup" deletes anything made or changed since then.
- For the new-folder route, press "Restore to a new folder", wait while it copies and keep NeuralVault open, then open the folder shown and copy back what you need. It is safe to delete when you are done.
- For the replace route, read the review first: files that will be put back, brought back and deleted. Then press "Replace my vault with this backup". Before anything changes, the app saves a copy of your current vault as your newest backup.
How to tell it worked
The screen reports how many files were put back, brought back or deleted, and your notes are as they were at the chosen moment.
If it does not work
- You replaced your vault and now want to undo it.
- Open Restore from backup again and pick the newest backup, the one saved just before the restore.
- Open pages still show old content after a restore.
- Switch to another page and back.
- The backup you need is not in the list.
- Only the newest ten are kept, and a backup only happens while the app is open. Older ones have been pruned.
