The installer is a standard Windows setup that installs for your user only, needs no administrator rights and lets you choose the folder; it creates Start menu and desktop shortcuts.

Steps
- Run the installer you have, named NeuralVault-Setup followed by the version. It installs per user, so Windows does not ask for administrator rights.
- Follow the setup screens. It shows the licence agreement and lets you change the install folder.
- When it finishes, start NeuralVault from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut.
- The first screen asks where your vault should live, then the sign-in screen appears.
How to tell it worked
NeuralVault opens, and its first screen reads "Choose where your notes live" on a new install.
If it does not work
- Windows shows a blue "Windows protected your PC" panel.
- See the guide on the SmartScreen warning. The installer is signed.
- You need the program somewhere other than the default folder.
- Choose it on the folder screen during setup. The installer allows changing it. Your notes live in your vault folder, not in the install folder.
- You want to know where the app keeps its own data.
- Under your user profile folder, which is why a per-user install is used. Settings, Connections and data, Remove my data lists exactly what is stored there.
