Connect a GitHub repository

A curated connector that reports two numbers, open issues and recent commits, into your vault. It is not the same thing as giving an agent tools to open issues or make pull requests.

Steps

  1. Open Settings, then AI & extensions, then Connectors and integrations, and open the connectors panel.
  2. Choose the GitHub repository preset, alongside Shopify, YouTube, Meta Ads, Search Console and RSS: these are curated connectors, a separate row from the MCP servers on the same panel.
  3. Enter the repository as owner/repo. A personal access token is optional: a public repository works without one, and a token only raises the rate limit or is required for a private repository.
  4. Connect. It fetches once and writes a summary note into your vault, which also surfaces as a Command Center panel on the Dashboard.

How to tell it worked

The Command Center shows an open-issue count and a commit count for the repository you connected.

If it does not work

You expected it to open, close or comment on issues.
It does not, by design. This connector reports two numbers; it cannot act on the repository at all. Giving an agent the ability to act on GitHub is a separate MCP server you would connect yourself.
The commit count looks capped.
It is: GitHub's own API returns at most 100 commits per page, and the count shows a trailing plus sign once it hits that limit rather than claiming a precise number past it.
You cannot find Connectors and integrations at all.
It became a Personal-edition feature. On Free the whole card is left out rather than shown and refused.
