Slash commands: /new, /compact, /model, /plan and the rest

In NeuralVault 2.0, typing / in the message box opens a menu of short commands: some do something at once, and some write a sentence into the box for you to read, change and send.

Steps

  1. Click in the message box and type /. A menu lists the commands in groups: Chat and app, Agent work, Code, GitHub and git, Vault, and Your commands. Type more letters to narrow it. /help lists every command.
  2. Two kinds. An action command runs something the app already does, at once and with no model. A prompt command writes an ordinary sentence into the box with the cursor at the end, so you can read it, add to it and press send yourself. Nothing is sent by the command alone.
  3. Chat and app: /new starts a new chat. /compact summarises the earlier messages to free up room in this chat. /model chooses the model for this chat. /usage opens Usage, what you have used and spent. /sessions opens the Library to find an earlier chat. /help lists every command.
  4. Modes: /plan, /manual and /default switch the permission mode. See the guide on permission modes.
  5. Skills: /skills opens Skills, the reusable know-how the assistant can use.
  6. Git: /commit, /push and /pull write a request into the box ("Commit my changes with a clear message", "Push my commits to the remote", "Pull the latest changes from the remote"). Committing and pushing are described as asking you first, and any command the assistant then runs still needs your approval on a card.
  7. To give a command something to work on, type it after the name: /read notes/todo.md. The command word must be the whole first word. /re and Enter does not run /read.
  8. Commands you have saved in a commands folder appear under Your commands.

How to tell it worked

Typing /new and pressing Enter starts a new chat, and typing /commit puts a sentence about committing in the box without sending it.

If it does not work

The menu does not open.
The / must start the message. A slash in the middle of a sentence is just text.
/rewind or /undo only says it is not built yet.
Those two are listed so the menu stays stable but are marked as coming. They write nothing into the box.
You expected a /nv command.
There is none, and no separate ingest command either. To save a page, ask the assistant to fetch it and write it into the reference folder with its source.
